Newly appointed National Director of Peace Foundation brings wealth of experience in non profit sector.

Ackerman_Pic.JPGAnne Ackerman appointed as National Director of the Peace Foundation.

Anne Ackerman brings significant experience in management and governance of not-for profit organisations, most recently as Executive Director of a health related charitable trust, and founding Executive Director of the Hearing House/Cochlear Implant Foundation of New Zealand.

Anne has been a trustee of the Aotearoa New Zealand Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies Centre Trust which has established a national centre for peace at Otago University.

Her role will see her providing provide strategic leadership of the Peace Foundation, promoting its vision and values and working closely with the President and Council to develop vital collaborative relationships.

Marion Hancock has stepped out of the National Director's position to become the Roots of Empathy/Peace Education Manager.

 

President of Peace Foundation, Bob Harvey recognised with international award.

More than 50 countries were represented in Dongguang China when Bob Harvey, President of the Peace Foundation, Waitakere mayor and life-long campaigner for projects ranging from environmental protection to peace and anti-nuclear issues received the LivCom Personal Award for best practice in the management of the environment. The awards are endorsed by the United Nations Environment Programme.

MEDIA PEACE AWARDS UPDATE

The Peace Foundation will not be calling for entries this year.  We will be working with Oxfam NZ and other key NGOs to develop a new set of awards to be launched in 2009.  These will build on 25 years of the Media Peace Awards - to include peace, international development, human rights and environmental issues.

NEW PEACE WEBSITE LAUNCHED

ENACT is a new youth website dedicated to inspiring the participation of young people in peace issues; in Aotearoa and in the world as a whole.

It provides a forum for voicing your opinions and finding out about all things peace-related. It includes information and initiatives for youth on promoting peaceful relationships at home, in the community and around the world.

ENACT is an initiative of the Peace Foundation Wellington office.
