COOL SCHOOLS PRIMARY PROGRAMME
The Cool Schools Primary Programme is a whole school developmental programme that introduces peer mediation into classroom and playground. All staff train for five hours and then train all pupils using the Cool Schools manuals and training videos provided. The programme features a seven-session course with key skills which empower children to resolve their own conflicts. A junior programme caters for Years 1-3.
The Cool Schools Parents Programme is an important part of the package.
The programme includes:
- philosophy and values
- role of mediators
- mediation process
- classroom skills
- handling difficult situations
- implementation
Follow-up includes:
- one hour with mediators
- one hour with staff
